Originn is a curated platform that connects you with India's verified campus-born startups — to discover their products, find roles, contribute expertise, or pre-order what they're building.
Originn is for anyone who wants to be part of the early-stage Indian startup ecosystem:
Yes. Browsing, applying for jobs, submitting collaboration proposals, and creating a Builder Profile are all free. You only pay when you place a pre-order — and that money is held in escrow, not paid to Originn.
LinkedIn is general professional networking, largely self-reported. AngelList is for investors. Kickstarter is for creative funding, with no protection once funds release. Originn is built for the verified Indian startup ecosystem — discovery, jobs, collaboration, and pre-orders with escrow protection, in one place.
Originn is based in India and incubated at Nirmaan, IIT Madras.
Click Sign Up on originn.co.in, enter your email, verify it, and complete the short onboarding. You can browse immediately and complete your Builder Profile at your own pace.
No. Any valid email works. An institute email (e.g. an @iitm.ac.in address) just helps verify your institutional affiliation faster.
Yes. Originn is open to students, professionals, researchers, and early adopters from any background. Verification is on the startup side, not the user side.
Yes, you can browse, build a Builder Profile, and engage with the community. Some features — especially backing pre-order campaigns and certain financial transactions — may be India-first during the initial rollout. We'll expand internationally as the platform matures.
You must be at least 18 years old to create an account. This is required for legal capacity to enter into agreements, particularly around pre-order transactions.
A verified, venture-native portfolio you actually own.
A verified, shareable portfolio that documents work you've actually done at startups — not just claimed. Think of it as a working track record.
On LinkedIn you can claim any role anywhere. On Originn, roles at listed startups are confirmed by the founders themselves. Verified roles get a checkmark; unverified ones stay private until approved.
You need one to apply for jobs, submit collaboration proposals, back a pre-order campaign, or be discoverable by founders and recruiters on the platform.
Yes — skills, experience, projects, links, and visibility settings are all editable from your profile settings. Verified metrics (like ventures listed or campaigns backed) are synced from your activity on the platform and aren't manually editable — that's what makes them trustworthy.
Yes. By default, profiles are public at originn.co.in/@yourusername, but you can switch visibility to private or limited from your profile settings.
Yes — you can download a PDF version of your Builder Profile from your account settings.
Browse all verified startups on Originn. Filter by sector, stage, product type, target market, and institute. Click into any startup to see their full profile — team, traction, jobs, collaboration requests, and any active pre-order campaigns.
Yes. Click the bookmark icon on any startup profile to save it. Your saved startups appear in your dashboard under Saved Ventures.
Yes. Follow any startup to receive notifications when they post new jobs, collaboration opportunities, or campaign updates.
Browse the Jobs section. Filter by role type, sector, location, work mode (remote/hybrid/onsite), and stage of startup. Every job is posted directly by a verified founder — no reposted listings, no recruiters in the middle.
Click Apply on any job posting. Your Builder Profile is automatically shared with the startup, along with any extra materials they've requested (cover note, portfolio link, etc.).
Only the founder or hiring manager at the specific startup you applied to. Originn does not share your application with any other startup or third party.
Yes — from My Applications in your dashboard, you can withdraw any pending application before it has been reviewed.
Yes — your public Builder Profile is automatically included with your application. That's what makes Originn applications different from a generic resume blast.
Startups receive many applications and may not respond to every one. Originn doesn't have the ability to force responses, but you can see the status of your applications in your dashboard.
Pre-orders are conditional. Your money is held in RBI-regulated escrow until verified milestones are met.
A conditional purchase of a product that hasn't yet shipped. You pay upfront, your money is held in escrow, and the startup receives it only as they hit verified milestones. If they fail to deliver at any stage, you get the full amount back.
No. You don't get equity, interest, or any financial return. You're paying early to receive a product later, with protections in place.
Three layers, in order:
Short delays don't trigger a refund — startups can extend with reasonable cause. But if a milestone is missed by more than 30 days without resolution, the campaign is marked as failed and you are refunded in full — automatically.
Yes. If the startup fails to deliver at any stage, you get the full amount you paid — refunded automatically. You don't need to file a claim or chase anyone.
Refunds typically reach your account within 5–10 business days, depending on your bank or payment provider.
No. Funds stay in escrow until each milestone is verified.
No. The price you see is the price you pay. Originn does not charge users any fees.
Every startup applies to Originn before being listed — they don't simply sign up. Each application is reviewed for team strength, product quality, market need, legal clarity, and execution readiness. Only ventures that pass our review get listed publicly.
No. Verification is a quality filter, not an endorsement. We confirm that a startup meets our criteria at the time of listing, but we don't predict their commercial success or guarantee any outcome.
If we discover misrepresentation, we may suspend or remove the startup from the platform, trigger refunds for active backers, and cooperate with regulators where required. Please report any concerns to contact@originn.co.in.
Only what's needed to operate the platform — account information, profile information you choose to share, activity data, payment information (processed securely by our partner), and communication you send through the platform. See our Privacy Policy for the full list.
We do not sell your personal data. We share data only with startups you explicitly engage with, our payment partners (for transaction processing), service providers under strict confidentiality, and where required by law.
Yes. We use HTTPS/TLS encryption for data in transit, encryption at rest for sensitive data, industry-standard authentication, and regular security audits.
Yes. From your account settings, you can request a copy of all data we hold about you — including your profile, applications, and pre-order history.
UPI (Google Pay, PhonePe, Paytm, etc.), debit and credit cards, net banking, and supported wallets. All payments are processed through PCI-DSS-compliant payment gateways.
No. The price you see is the price you pay. Originn does not charge users any platform fees.

Go to Profile Settings from the avatar menu in the top right, and edit any field you'd like to change.
Yes — from Settings → Account → Delete Account. Active pre-orders and their protections continue until resolved, and some transaction data is retained as required by Indian law.
Use the Forgot Password link on the login page. We'll send a reset link to your registered email.
Check the campaign page for the latest update. After the 30-day grace period, the campaign is marked as failed and your full amount is refunded automatically. If the refund hasn't processed in a reasonable time after that, write to contact@originn.co.in.
Yes. Use the Report button on any profile, campaign page, or job posting. You can also email contact@originn.co.in with details — we investigate every report.
